Maoist Chief Dahal is poised to take over as Prime Minister in place of Oli.  Till the time of writing no other leader has registered for election to the post of Prime Minister, though there were reports from the valley that the former Speaker Nembang may be put up as a candidate from the UML.

On 12th July, the Maoist Centre of Nepal led by Dahal formally withdrew its support to Oli’s government.  The next day a no confidence motion against  Oli was filed in the Parliament.

The Madhesi Agitation started on August 17, 2015 and so far 57 lives have been lost and hundreds were injured.  Some of those injured were the main bread winners of their families.

If the Prime Minister of a neighbouring country makes an open accusation in his televised address to the nation, then it is something serious and needs to be examined.   In the instant case, Prime Minister K. P. Oli in his address to the nation accused India of imposing a blockade which he described as cruel, inhumane and beyond imagination.

It is a pity that the agitation by the Terai-Madhes groups has finally resulted in India-Nepal Relations taking a nose dive, thanks to messy handling from both sides.
