Nepal: Madhesi Groups agree to participate in Local Elections: Update No. 347

The Sanhgiya Gathabandhan that includes the Sanghiya Samajwadi Forum, the newly formed Rashtriya Janata Party as well as a few other parties of Janajathis, finally agreed to withdraw the proposed agitation and participate in the local body elections scheduled for 14th May this year.

Nepal: Trigger happy Police Kill Five protestors in Rajbiraj: Update No. 345

In an incident on 7th April at Maleth in Saptari district, the Police opened fire on a group of Madhesis who were protesting against the convening of a rally led by former Prime Minister K.P.Oli and the UML in their programme of “Mechi to Mahakali.”  This rally was supposed to mobilise the public for the coming local elections on May 14 that was being strongly opposed by the Madhesi front.
