On the 10th of December, after many false starts the agitating Madhesi Group UDMF consisting of its four leaders met the representatives of the ruling coalition and the Nepali Congress leaders  at Singha Durbar to discuss the demands of the Madhesi leaders.

The Coalition Government led by K.P. Oli has finally decided to move amendments to constitution.  These relate to two of the three major issues that had led to the present agitation.  These amendments were suggested by the former Sushil Koirala led government but held in abeyance for over a month for reasons best known to them.

If the Prime Minister of a neighbouring country makes an open accusation in his televised address to the nation, then it is something serious and needs to be examined.   In the instant case, Prime Minister K. P. Oli in his address to the nation accused India of imposing a blockade which he described as cruel, inhumane and beyond imagination.

One of the well known analysts in Nepal, in writing about the  current situation said that “spewing hate against Madhesis and India will not do.”  This is very true.

It is a pity that the situation in south Nepal ( Madhes) is getting more and more messy  with no prospect of an early solution. 49 people have so far been killed and another 729 have been injured of whom some are in a critical condition.

Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli (K.P.Oli) achieved his dream of becoming the 38 th Prime Minister of Nepal on 12th October after winning with a majority of 338 votes against a total of 587 members.
